This Sky-Watcher 90mm aperture advanced achromatic refractor is one of the best entry-level telescopes for teenagers! Also suitable for working adults who are beginning to get interested in the stars and would like to try out stargazing with a good scope and a portable mount at a low price without compromising on quality and performance.

The SW909AZ3 can also be used for terrestrial or land viewing, such as watching birds or people at a distance during daytime.

NOTE: It is about 1m long and looks much bigger in real life than in the pictures here!

The telescope body is made of quality aluminum tube which is surprisingly lightweight considering its 90mm aperture or diameter. The colour of the tube is dark blue (subject to change without notice). Your first impression of it will be awesome as it looks bigger in real life! It is close to 1 metre in length and has a long focal length of 900mm! The optics are multi-coated air-spaced doublet objective with 2 baffles. In other words, this is not a TOY, it is a real professionally-made TELESCOPE at an affordable price!

Comes with standard accessories which allow you to start the hobby of stargazing immediately: a 45-degree diagonal, 6x30 finderscope and 2 Super Modified Achromat (SMA) eyepieces of 25mm and 10mm. Such standard accessories as well as the colour of the telescope are subject to change depending on factory stock availabilty and product upgrades.

The AZ3 mount supplied is a good quality altazimuth mount which is easy to use. The entire system weighs less than 10kg, so it is possible to be carried around by a teenager.

Stargazing is an interesting hobby that can be enjoyed by people of all ages even in light-polluted Singapore. But in order to see good views of the night sky DESPITE the serious light pollution, it is advisable to get a telescope with more than 80mm in diameter size. This effectively rules out getting those highly-priced plastic toys you see in the supermarkets or even in some camera shops in Singapore!

The following report from a leading stargazing magazine in the UK speaks volumes about the outstanding ability of this budget telescope system:

In short, this is a big telescope that packs a punch without burning a hole in your pocket!
